Is it Spring yet?

We are trying very hard to be optimistic and keep ourselves busy during these bitter, cold days of February!  March is just around the corner, and that means that spring will be here soon.  Praise God that winter will eventually come to an end.  The kids have had 5 snow and cold days at school in the month of February and there are 2 more pending days at the end of this week due to below freezing temps.

On a happier note, working part-time is such a blessing!  I am beyond thankful that I'm able to help in Helaina's classroom multiple times throughout the year and sometimes on a weekly basis.  The most recent was her Valentine's Day party.  She and I made snacks and organized two separate games stations.  It was a couple hours of fun for the kids, and I love seeing her interact with her classmates.

We seriously LOVE Helaina's teacher.  It's hard to believe that she is more than half way through her Kindergarten year.  The progress these kids make in the year is unbelievable.  In just a few short months, she went from only knowing letter sounds to reading full sentences!  She is just days away from her first visit from the tooth fairy.  Another milestone that I'm not quite sure we are ready to check off, but it's inevitably just around the corner.

My parents were able to visit last week and while they were here, we took the opportunity to celebrate Helaina's 6th birthday a few weeks early at Benihana.  The kids loved the chef and all his fun cooking displays.

And yesterday, we were blessed to celebrate Sitty Salwa's 80th birthday!  Happy 80th Birthday Sitty!

Fort Myers Beach Vacation

We have safely returned from another successful family vacation.  This is the second consecutive February that we've escaped the MI winter and enjoyed the FL sunshine.  Our timing couldn't have been better. The day after we left, we recorded over 18 inches of snow.  School was closed for two days and as you can see from the pictures below, there wasn't a snowflake to be found on the sandy, white beach!

Fort Myers beach was beautiful.  Pristine, white sand for miles and sea shells galore.  The kids were all smiles.
