Quick baby updated...we had a 37 week ultrasound today. The doctor wanted to check baby's weight and growth thus far b/c the "fundus" measurements hadn't increased in a couple weeks time. (For those of you not familiar with the OH so popular word "fundus", here is a quick pregnancy lesson. "The top of the uterus. The fundus rises during pregnancy as the baby grows. The obstetrician will measure the fundal height as a measure of how much your baby is growing."

Anyways, Baby Freij is measuring very normal. Baby's current estimated weight is 6 pounds! The ultrasound technician also confirmed that baby's head is facing down which is great news for our chances of a vaginal delivery. Randy and I are very proud of Baby Freij as he/she continues to impress each OB, nurse, and assistant we see...they all say the same thing..."This baby is active!"
I have an OB appointment tomorrow morning, and the doctor will probably begin checking my cervix for signs of dilation. I'm still very comfortable...continuing to work 3 days a week for as long as I can. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as delivery day is quickly approaching!

Welcome to the Family Roscoe Najeeb Freij!
Randy and I didn't have the baby yet, but we are welcoming a new addition to the family. Roscoe Najeeb is Omar's new puppy. It's a a beautiful black poodle that is weighing in at about 2 lbs. Randy and I were both able to meet him this weekend...he's so adorable!!!
The girls from the dental office had a baby shower/dinner for me this past Friday night at Table 5 in downtown Northville. Each of the girls gave Baby Freij such beautiful and thoughtful gifts. Baby has no idea just how much he/she is already loved!
I'm 35 weeks and starting to see the OB doctor weekly. This past Friday she started checking for baby's position. By now, he/she should be settling into a "head down" position. Baby is weighing in at about 5 1/2 lbs, but still has plenty of room to grow. We'll see the OB again this Friday and keep everyone updated!

Baby Shower
Our prayers were answered! Friends and family battled the snow storm to attend Baby Freij's shower on Sunday. My mother-in-law hosted a beautiful baby shower at our church hall. She did such an amazing job, and we can wait to thank her and Ammo with the gift of a grandchild :)!The food was delicious! The cake was gorgeous (and yummy too)! But nothing compares to witnessing the love for a baby that is yet to be born! Randy and I count our blessings daily...and this was a weekend full of them! Thank you to each person who made this weekend so special for us.

Each guest at the shower was to guess the sex of Baby Freij. It was very interesting to hear people's responses and also the reason they think the baby is a boy or a girl. According to the latest tally, "girl" is outnumbering "boy". What do you think?!? In just a few short weeks we'll all know the answer. I only shed a few tears (stinkin' hormones). My mom presented us with a few keepsakes from my childhood...my baptismal gown, slip, and bonnet, first communion veil, outfit I took my first photo in, and hand stitched booties and jacket.

Back on schedule in 2009
Not much to report the past few weeks. 2009 has started rather uneventful. I started my "post maternity leave" schedule at work, which means that I am officially a "part-time" hygienist!!! I work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday until Baby Freij decides to enter this world and will continue that schedule after the baby is born. I'm thankful for the extra days off this month as I'm using them to prepare for the baby's arrival.
Randy and I are anticipating a wonderful weekend. My mother-in-law is hosting a small baby shower for Baby Freij this Sunday. A few of my family members and friends will be traveling from Indiana to join in the celebration. I'm praying that the weather will allow for safe travels. Unfortunately there is a winter weather advisory in effect until Saturday night :(.
Tomorrow Randy and I both have the day off and will begin our search for a Pediatrician. We have a few referrals to check out that were given to us from a trusted friend. We also have a little photo shoot with a photographer in Saline. She comes recommended from our friend Kim who had her maternity pictures taken at her studio. Hopefully she can work some magic and flatter my big baby bell!
