It's the start of a new school year for us, and we officially have a 1st grader and 4 year-old preschooler. Helaina's transition into her new class has been smooth and rather uneventful. She LOVES school. She wakes herself each morning, jumps out of bed to get herself ready, and is always 10 minutes early at the bus stop. She plays "school" when she comes home and simply enjoys every aspect of her day. We hope and pray that her love for learning and engaging never diminishes! It's such a joy to see.
This guy is going 3 full days (8 am to 4:30 or 5 pm) a week to 4 year-old preschool. Thank goodness he has a big sister that has led the way and allowed Zachary to ease into each new phase. This kid is more social and outgoing than his sister (if that's even possible) and to our surprise, he LOVES school too (maybe not for all the same reasons, but he loves going!).
After a long church school orientation and preseasons exams for the Wings, Randy and I left town early Saturday afternoon to attend Shaun and Whitney's wedding ceremony and reception. Randy's parents so graciously kept the kids overnight, and we thoroughly enjoyed all 24 hours of our trip to Indiana.
Just a friendly little rivalry! Oh, who am I kidding, GO WINGS!!!
And while we were attending the wedding reception, we received terrible news that my Aunt Sharon, (my dad's sister) had only moments left to live after her 3 month long struggle with brain cancer. She passed peacefully at her home that evening, surrounded by her family, her parents, and her six siblings. I have attached a link to her obituary.

She was a kind and simple woman and loved her family deeply. She was far too young to be taken from this early world. My heart truly aches for her husband and children and the long road of grieving they have ahead of them. May her memory be eternal.
