Birthday and Easter Blessings

Helaina and Zach have been on their spring break for the last week.  We were fortunate to be able to spend the beginning of the break in IN.  We had a weekend full of celebrations and plenty of pictures to document our fun.

Grandpa Bob (Great-Grandpa Bob to the kids) celebrated his 80th birthday with a little surprise birthday party at my parents' house. Grandpa's never been one for parties or attention, but he sure loves pizza and ice cream cake so we didn't hear him complain :).

On Sunday, we celebrated Easter with Grandpa and Grandma McGinley.  Every Easter memory I have as a kid is from Grandpa and Grandma's house.  Grandma's ham and Uncle Pat's homemade pineapple dressing never disappoint.  Another personal favorite is the Easter egg hunt complete with prizes and hugs and kisses from Grandma McGinley.  When I was a kid, the egg hunts had just a little more competition, another 20 or so grand kids in the mix and it was a mad dash across the yard to find those hidden eggs.

This year's age eligible children participating in the hunt :)

Now it's Zach's turn

My view from my parents kitchen window...enjoying the warmer weather with Uncle Nate.  Zach thought it was hilarious that he could push Nate on the swing and was quite disappointed that Nate's legs were so long.

And as we near the end of our spring break, we have the fabulous opportunity to celebrate our second Easter, the Orthodox Easter, this Sunday with our family in MI.  Teta Helen and the kids dyed and decorated their Easter eggs this morning.  The kids had so much fun mixing colors and making beautiful eggs for the hunt tomorrow.

Helaina had her first soccer game of the season.  She was so excited and even scored her first goal ever!!! We are very proud and happy to be out enjoying the spring weather with the kids.
