December Blizzard

Early Friday morning, we woke to about 4 inches of snow. This of course made our drives to work very long and interesting. Randy left home at 6 am and finally arrived at the office in Lansing at 9 am. Thank goodness that my office is much closer to home. The snow continued to 2 in the afternoon-final snow fall-10 inches. School was cancelled throughout the area, however, dental patients chose to skip work and keep their dental appointments (which makes for a long day for those working at the dental office)! Randy's parents unfortunately had no better luck with the weather than us. They had a wedding to attend this weekend in New York. After 1 flight cancellation and another long delay, they eventually made it to their hotel in New York at 3am. As of late last night, they still had not received their checked-in luggage. We anticipate their safe arrival home tomorrow though.

My parents made the treck from Valpo to Livonia on Friday as well. Those "pick em up trucks" with 4 wheel drive sure come in handy from time to time. My mom and I braved the crowds to finish some last minute Christmas shopping, while Randy and my dad kept themselves busy digging us out of the snow so we could enjoy our day at the mall.

Today we have ANOTHER SEVERE WEATHER ALERT. We had another couple of inches of snow last night and temperatures are bitter cold. Winds are up to 35-50 mph with blowing and drifting of snow and temperatures in the negative. Guess we'll have WHITE but CHILLY Christmas!
